Gulls


Our morning dog walks lately start in the dark and finish in the light. I like it. In the hour or two before dawn, a secret world exists and humans don't belong in it. So I tread lightly and sometimes I get lucky and see a fox heading home. This morning it was gulls, winging off as we approached.

The Argoflex



This is a little Argoflex TLR camera I bought on eBay which arrived on Saturday all the way from the US of A. These are medium format twin lens cameras that were mass-produced in the 1950s and 60s. It takes square pictures and has an oddball viewfinder involving flaps that open to create a little metal structure. Like lots of these old mass produced cameras, it produces distinctive images with a certain amount of distortion and uneven light. The 620 film it takes is hard to come by these days, but you can spool 120 film ... alternatively, you can make a splendid CONTRAPTION and shoot digital through the viewfinder. Guess what tonight's task is ...

Another project shot



I used an infrared filter on this one. Quite happy with how that worked.

My little Argoflex TLR arrived this morning, all the way from America. It's very cute and in pristine condition, with its original leather jacket and everything. Of course, this means I'll have to build another contraption ...
